The Team
Welcome! Team 13190 was created in 2017 as our second team at Wilcox High School. 13190 was created for incoming Freshmen and Sophomores who want to compete, but don’t have prior experience. New members can expect to learn the basics of robotics and have a chance to be promoted to our more advanced 8872 team.
Team Structure
13190 consists of the same structure as it’s sister team 8872. It has a captain and co-captain. It is split into the same three departments: Hardware, Software, and the Business Department.
The hardware department is responsible for the design and construction of our robots. They work with different materials and tools. To design our robots, they use Autodesk Fusion and Blender. The robot is then assembled by the hardware department. The hardware department is responsible for the physical aspects of our robot.
The software department is responsible for the coding of and control of our robots. They use Java to create the programs which control our robots at a competition. The precise movements of the robot is the provision of software members. Additionally, they are also responsible for the creation of our game strategy at competition.
The business department is generally much smaller than the other departments. It consists of members from teams. The business department advises the other departments on spending. It manages the team budget. Additionally, the business department is also responsible for organizing outreach programs.
